Carpentry- The carpentry program is overseen by Mr. Kingsley in the North East corner of the campus. Skills that will be learned include framing, removing and replacing doors and window hardware, installing a subfloor, safely using hand and power tools. NEWLO focuses on hands on learning so you will be expected to participate in practical sessions. Carpentry students will also spend time learning the basics of technical drawing with Mrs. Horsford. Cosmetology- The cosmetology program is located on the third floor of the main building. Ms. Phillips has been skillfully turning out students in the arts of Cosmetology for the past ______. A trainee in Cosmetology will learn: basic anatomy; to properly wash and style hair; wig making; plating and manicure/pedicure services. Students in this program are expected to have their own manicure set which will be used in class. While the trainees in this program cannot produce a portfolio for their CVQ after obtaining work experience they should be able to challenge for their qualifications. Early Childhood Development & Introductory Health Care- Under the supervision of Ms. Mitchell trainees learn about children's emotional and social development; sensory development; cognitive needs, nutritional needs, first aid and how to engage children through play amongst many topics. Training in Health Care sees students learn basic anatomy, concepts related to geriatric care (care of the elderly), and understanding diabetes and basic patient care. Trainees will do placements around the island to enhance their skills and knowledge. This classroom is located in the building that houses the staff room and ADP classrooms. Students are not to pass through the staff room to reach their class.

Electrical Installation- The electrical department is currently being overseen by Mr. McDonald while Mr. Edward's is upgrading his skills in Trinidad and Tobago. Located just off the main courtyard on the second story, this classroom also doubles as a meeting hall when required. The electrical students are able to put together a portfolio during their training to obtain their level 1 CVQ. Electrical students will learn how to disconnect and reconnect fixed wired electrical machinery, appliances and fixtures; install, terminate and connect electrical wires, cut bend and install electrical conduits, and perform soldering, just to name a few. Students will be encouraged to keep track of their work using photos and written descriptions to assist with the assessment of the CVQ.

Gardening and Small Engine Repair- Under the direction of Mr. Duncn trainees in Gardening learn the basics of agriculture in preparation for personal or professional agricultural work. Training combines theoretical and practical work and teaches trainees crop raising & maintenance, growing seasons, fertilization, and harvesting. Gardening trainees split their training between agricultural training and work in the Small Engine Repair workshop. Trainees in the Gardening skills track are required to learn the basics of small engine repair and maintenance. This training guides students in the servicing of agricultural appliances (lawnmowers, weed eaters, blowers, tillers, chainsaws, etc.). Trainees who undergo Gardening & Small Engine Repair training typically work as farmers or as agricultural consultants.
